Whirlwind Visit

Grandma Nanci just came for a visit from Iowa. She arrived last Friday evening and just left this afternoon. Oftentimes when Grandma visits we just hang around the regular stomping grounds. However, this time, since she was here for a little longer than usual we decided to spice things up a bit. Sunday, after going to church (of course!), we went to Muir Woods. It is a gorgeous place with a lovely trail for taking a stroll. There are some very pretty pictures on the Dropshots account, so take a look-see! Below you will see a very rare shot . . . one of me! :)
On Tuesday, we decided to go to the beach! (My favorite place.) Nettie has been asking for some time to take a trip to the beach and with Gr. Nanci here, it was the perfect opportunity. So, off we went to Santa Cruz for a little beach action. It was wonderfully D-vine! Unfortunately, I was a little neglectful in the sunscreen department on my own bod and ended up with a fairly ugly burn . . . but it is fading now so I guess it's all good! :) There was sand-castle creating, basking in the sun, wave chasing, rock & shell collecting . . . good times!
On Thursday, we went to the zoo! It had been quite some time since we've visited the Oakland Zoo and once again, Gr. Nanci being here made for a lovely excuse to go. We packed up our gear and headed out to the zoo for a day of animal spying fun. Betsie, as you can imagine, was beyond excited but we managed to calm her down enough to get there just shortly after it opened for the day. The second we got to one animal exhibit, Aubrie was ready to head to the next one. At the rate she wanted to go we would have seen the entire zoo in about 1/2 hour but we managed to slow her down a little and see almost all the animals there. Matt even got to come for most of it! We did have an unfortunate flip-flop tradegy. Thankfully, it was near the end of our adventure, so we didn't have to cut the day too short. But, in case it happens to any of you . . . the Oakland Zoo does have flip flops in their gift shop, never fear (unless you happen to be a wallet.) ;)
Then today before we took Gr. Nanci to the airport and said our good-byes, we went to the Children's Discovery Museum in San Jose. For any parents living the Bay Area, this is a FABULOUS museum. We've been there a number of times with the girls and every time they LOVE it! It's very hands on and every so often they change their special exhibit. Right now, it is Curious George. We were there for several hours and the girls didn't want to leave when it was time to head out.
Thanks, Grandma Nanci for all the fun times! Please check out the Dropshots account for all the pix of the good times this past week.

Until next time, dear readers . . .
