Merry May's Madness

The month of May has included much merry madness . . . muhahaha! Okay, maybe a little dramatic for the actual May occurances but I couldn't resist considering the alliteration already taking place in that particular sentence. (For those needing a little refresher on the literary term: alliteration is the repetition of the same sounds or of the same kinds of sounds at the beginning of words or in stressed syllables, as in "on scrolls of silver snowy sentences.")
Anyhoo, the very beginning of the month started off slow but starting May 9 life got a little more interesting. We were able to go to Iowa. And although that doens't sound all that exciting (no offense, Iowa family!) part of the reason we chose to go that particular week was because the annual Orange City Tulip Festival was taking place! We were able to experience all the dutchiness we could handle. (Yes, I realize dutchiness is not a word but perhaps it should be . . .)

Our little dutch girls!

Gr. Nanci was able to borrow some adorable dutch costumes for the girls to wear . . . yes, even baby Elisabeth got all decked out in the dutch frippery. The only thing missing were the wooden shoes! I very much enjoyed the festivities associated with this lovely gathering.

While in Iowa, Aubrie celebrated her 3rd birthday. She is enjoying telling everyone now that she is 4 1/2 . . . yes despite the fact that she just turned three apparently in her mind she is four and a half. Go figure.

We also were able to host a lovely party for Gr. Nanci in honor of her 60th birthday. She was completely suprised (or so she says.) We aren't sure how much of a suprise it actually was but what I can guarantee was that it was tons of fun for all.

After returning home from our frolic in dutchland and all the celebratory craziness, we settled back into life as we know it for a brief period. During this time, Elisbeth had her two month appointment. She is a "tall" girl at about the 96 percentile for length and right in the middle for her weight which is just under 12 lbs. Doc says she's healthy and that we just need to keep doin' what we're doin'. And so it shall be.

Just this past weekend, our eldest, Nettie, celebrated her 5th birthday. Yes, that's right our little munchkin is now FIVE! Yikes! In honor of her birthday, yesterday we went to the Contra Costa County Fair. It was loads of fun, so much so we had tears at the end. Isn't that how all overly fun days end, in tears? Anyway, the tears came from Aubrie . . . just plum tuckered out from all the excitment.

Please check out the Drop Shots account for all the latest pix of our fun times.

One more little milestone to share . . . Elisabeth (or Betsie as I like to call her) giggled for the first time. What joy fills a mother's heart the first time she hears the cheery tinkle of her beloved's first laugh. Unfortunately, I have yet to catch this wonder on video. I promise to try to get that soon and post for all to enjoy.

Until next time, dear readers . . .
