Camping Chronicles: Day 1

We arrived at the Ft. Collins Lakeside KOA yesterday at about noon. We were excitedly greeted by the Oosterhouse clan as we pulled into the check-in parking lot. After registering the vehicle, we drove to our site. A little unpacking of the van, a little repacking in the trailer and we were good to go. After a quick lunch, the chillins' insisted it was pool time and off we went.
As you can see the kids had so much fun swimming together. We were at the pool until almost dinner time, then it was back to the campsite for more playing and talking. Shell & Derek made a FANTASTIC dinner of marinated chicken, corn on the cob, baked beans and french fries. Then after the sun went down, of course there were s'mores.

Aubrie . . . not a fan of the s'more. She loved roasting the marshmallow but then after putting the delectable creation into her little paddies we had tears. She's a girl after her father's heart. Anyone who knows Matthew Jahn, knows he prefers his hands to be squeaky clean. As soon as Aubrie had taken the first bite there was gooey marshmallow all over her mouth, her hands, even her clothes. She couldn't handle it. So, she was wiped clean and never finished the s'more. Nearly broke my heart to have to throw away a perfectly good s'more. ;)

Another day has dawned now and there will be more adventures to share soon. Here's a little pic of Betsie. She's startin' to really chunk up, that one! She wishes all of you a very happy day!
