A New Day-A New Year-A New Blog

Realizing just how bad I am at blogging after seeing a friend's fantastic blog, I decided to give this another go! The last time I blogged was December and so with a new year (never mind it is March) comes a new blog and a renewed enthusiasm at sharing the ever-so exciting (yeah, right) lives of the Jahns in California.

January brought a new year and not much else new to our lives.

February brought Suzy's (gulp) 32nd birthday and a fun visit from Nana and Papa (Suzy's parents.) It isn't that often that we go site seeing with Nana and Papa since they visit CA regularly (and lived here for a number of years.) But this time brought a trip to The City. (Recently, I was told that I'm not a true Bay Area person if I refer to San Francisco as anything but The City . . . so there you go!) We traveled down to the beloved Pier 39 and watched the sea lions and the many people also visiting the sea lions. It was a gorgeous, sunny Nor Cal day and thus the pier was bustling with many tourists and locals trying to catch as many sun rays as possible.

The girls loved watching the sea lions and I loved watching them watch the sea lions. We walked the pier, Nettie and I took a ride on the carousel and we all ate ice cream. It was a fun day and even more fun in the fact that Nana and Papa were able to share it with us!

March has just begun but already we've had a visit from Grandma Nanci (Matt's mom.) We also managed a trip to The City while she was here. This visit we went to see Coit Tower. This was our first visit ever to Coit Tower and I must say it was fantastic. Nettie thought she was a princess in a castle and danced and danced once we reached the top. Aubrie couldn't help herself and danced right along with her. The view was amazing and the murals painted on the interior walls were beautiful.

After the trip to Coit Tower we went to the beach. I cannot explain how I feel when I get to the beach. My inner child comes out and suddenly all my cares have washed away with waves crashing on the shore. This feeling is intesified watching my eldest daugther play on the sandy seaside. At one point she ran with complete abandon down the beach, her long hair flowing behind her, her smile so big it about burst from her face. My heart swelled with joy with a kindred spirit knew her happiness as she enjoyed the sights, smells and feel of the sand between her toes.

Aubrie took a little longer to enjoy the feeling of sand between her toes. For the first half of our time there she wouldn't let Matt put her down. Finally, I took her from his arms set her down and explained that it was a GOOD feeling. She enjoyed it after that. I realize how silly she looks in the photo with her big winter coat on. But she LOVES that coat and insists upon wearing it almost every day (even when she really only needs a light-weight one.) Our Aubrie not even two and knows her mind like no one else! She knows what she wants and don't you dare tell her different!

That's all for now. I hope that I can do a better job of keeping this thing updated. I guess time will tell. Until next time, my faithful readers . . .
